Who are the events for?

Our events are for Muslims who are genuinely and seriously looking for marriage. Participants must be 18 or over to attend.

What age groups do you cater for?

Accepted Answer

We welcome adults across a range of ages. Our current age categories are: 18–25, 26–35, 36–42, 43+ The exact mix of participants may vary between events, and future events may also be designed specifically for particular age groups.

Do I have to be looking for marriage?

Yes. SoulMate Connect is not designed for casual dating or relationships. Our events are specifically for people approaching introductions with a genuine intention towards marriage.

How does the event work?

Our events are designed to be more than simply putting people in a room together. Participants are given structured opportunities to meet and speak to potential marriage partners. Events may also include guided networking, meaningful discussions and educational content around marriage, compatibility, communication and expectations.

Not quite. Although you will have opportunities to meet a number of people, SoulMate Connect is designed around meaningful introductions rather than rushed conversations. We want participants to have enough structure to meet people while still being able to explore values, personality, life goals and compatibility.

SoulMate Connect is built around Islamic values of dignity, sincerity, respect and appropriate family involvement. Our aim is to create an environment where people can explore marriage in a way that respects those values.

Do I need to bring a chaperone?

Yes. We ask all participants to attend with a chaperone as part of our commitment to creating a respectful and appropriately structured environment. If you are genuinely unable to bring a chaperone, please let us know during the registration process and explain your circumstances. A member of the SoulMate Connect team will review this and may contact you if we need any further information. Please do not let being unable to arrange a chaperone stop you from registering your interest. Speak to us and we will review your circumstances with you.

Can parents contact you on behalf of their son or daughter?

Absolutely. We understand that parents often play an important role in supporting their children's search for a spouse. Parents are welcome to contact SoulMate Connect to find out more about our events and services. The individual themselves must still be willing and genuinely interested in marriage.

I'm nervous about attending. Is that normal?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Marriage events can feel daunting, particularly if you have never attended one before. Our aim is to create a warm, welcoming and professionally organised environment where participants feel comfortable and supported through the process.

Do you cater for different ethnicities and backgrounds?

Yes. SoulMate Connect is intended to bring together Muslims who are serious about marriage. We recognise that individuals may have their own preferences when considering a spouse, which is why our registration process helps us understand participants and what they are looking for.

We want SoulMate Connect to be accessible to people from a range of communities. We are developing outreach for English, Urdu, Arabic and Bengali-speaking communities and will continue to consider how we can make the experience accessible to participants and families from different backgrounds.

Do you guarantee that I'll find someone?

No. SoulMate Connect creates opportunities for introductions, but we cannot guarantee a match, mutual interest, engagement or marriage. Participants and their families remain responsible for making their own decisions and carrying out appropriate enquiries and due diligence before making any commitment.

Participants are required to provide information during registration and are expected to provide truthful and accurate information. SoulMate Connect does not independently verify every statement or representation made by every attendee. Individuals and families should therefore undertake their own appropriate enquiries, references and checks before progressing towards marriage.

What information will I need to provide?

Our registration process may ask for information such as your name, age, gender, contact details, profession or employment status, background, what you are looking for in a spouse, and information about your chaperone arrangements. We may also request additional profile information where appropriate.

Once you have registered, the SoulMate Connect team will communicate the relevant next steps and information you need ahead of the event. We may also ask you to provide additional profile information to help us better understand you and what you are looking for in a spouse.

What should I bring on the day?

We recommend bringing photo ID, a fully charged phone and anything your chaperone may need for the day. Most importantly, come with an open mind and heart, sincere intentions and a willingness to engage respectfully with the people you meet.

What is expected of attendees?

Everyone attending SoulMate Connect is expected to behave respectfully, protect other participants' privacy and follow the event and venue guidelines. Harassment, intimidation, abusive behaviour, discrimination or other inappropriate conduct will not be accepted.

What if I don't meet someone I'm interested in?

That is completely fine. Attending an event does not mean you are expected to choose someone or progress an introduction. SoulMate Connect is about creating opportunities. Sometimes an introduction may develop immediately; sometimes the journey takes longer. Our aim is to support people beyond a single event through our growing marriage network and future events.

Alongside our events, we are developing a wider SoulMate Connect marriage network for people who are genuinely seeking a spouse. This means that even if a particular event is not suitable for your age group or circumstances, you can still register your interest with us and hear about relevant opportunities in the future.

Registration with the Marriage Bureau is currently free. Our focus at this stage is on building a strong community of serious marriage-minded individuals and families. Event tickets are charged separately.
